1. Cleaning.
When taking the bearing off for inspection, first make a record of its appearance by photography etc. Also check the amount of lubricant remaining and sample the lubricant before cleaning the bearings. Cleaning of bearings is carried out in rough and fine washes and can be carried out by placing a metal mesh frame at the bottom of the container used. Usually the cleaning agent used is a neutral, water-free diesel or paraffin, but sometimes a warm alkaline solution is used as required. Immediately after cleaning, rust-proof oil or rust-proof grease is applied to the bearings.
2. Inspection and judgement.
In order to judge whether the dismantled bearing can be reused, we should focus on checking its dimensional accuracy, rotational accuracy, internal clearance and mating surface, raceway surface, cage and sealing ring. About the inspection results, can be used by the habitual bearing or proficient bearing people to judge. The criteria for judgement vary according to mechanical properties and importance as well as inspection intervals. If there is any of the following damage, the bearing must not be reused and must be replaced.
